Our Church Story

Over 20 Years of New Bridge Community Church History

In 2019 we celebrated 20 years as a church and 12 years in our neighborhood. We threw a block party to celebrate!

Our History

In August of 1998, Pastor Mark and Leslie Colavecchio, along with a small group of people began gathering to pray and ask God what it would look like to plant a church that would be for people who have never experienced the grace of Jesus. On October 3, 1999, New Bridge gathered for its first service at the River Ridge High School Performing Arts Center. By God's grace, people began to come and lives were changed. New Bridge met in schools between 1998 and 2007. In 2007 we purchased the, then abandoned and condemned, Old Madison Elementary School building. With a full remodal and through God prompting the generosity from our church family, we fully renovated the building and have loved being a part of the Eastside Neighborhood.

As grateful as we are for our building, we believe that the church is more than a building and more than our gatherings. We are a community of people changed by the grace of Jesus seekings to make God's love known to those around us. We gather on Sundays to scatter individually and in life groups throughout our city.

While our methods may change over the years, our mission never did. We are commited to following God as we seek to make disciples who love God, love one another, and make His love known.

A Repurposed Building

Our building was built in 1956 and served as Madison Elementary school until 1999, when a new Madison school was constructed. For several years the building sat largely unused and run-down until we claimed it for Jesus' work in 2005. After two years of remodeling, we held our first services here on October 7, 2007.
