“Power & Authority”

I Pray – Wk 4

Catching Up

Describe a time when you realized you didn’t have as much power, authority, and control as you thought you did.

How have you been applying what we’ve been learning about prayer to your prayer life this past week?

Which point of this week’s sermon was most helpful, challenging, or thought provoking for you? Why?

Going Deeper:

As you think about the concepts of power, authority, and control, what are other passages or stories in the Bible that come to your mind that reflect the same truths covered in the sermon? (i.e. Daniel 2:17-23; 1 Samuel 28:1-19; Philippians 2:5-11)

What indicators do you see in your life that reveal who/what really has power and authority in your life?

What are the triggers in your life that cause you to grasp for power and control in your life situations?

Identify a specific challenge, issue, fear, etc. that you are facing right now. How does Ephesians 1:20-23 impact how you view the challenges you’re facing in life now?

What is the biggest obstacle to you living under the power and authority of God?

How does Ephesians 1:20-23 influence how and what you pray for?

Prayer: As a group, identify the various areas of your life that expose fear, worry, lack of control (parenting, politics, non-believing friends, finances, marriage, etc.). Spend time in prayer acknowledging God’s power and authority over all these things and asking for your hearts to surrender to His power and authority.

Confess what God brings to mind as you pray.
