Life Grp Q’s
“Losing Your Footing”
2/17/19

John 18:1-11 CSB

Openers

•Have you ever tried to follow Jesus, only to be over-zealous and end up hurting someone? OR, have you ever been the victim of an over-zealous ‘follower’ ?

Review

•In the message this week, was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged or confused you?

Going Deeper

•Read Acts 2:36 and Jn.12:27. From these scriptures or others, who is ultimately responsible for Jesus going to the cross?

•Why is it so difficult to trust such a powerful, all-knowing, loving, kind and sovereign Savior?

•What does it mean that Jesus drank the “Cup of Wrath” for us? (see 2 Cor.5:21 & Rom.5:9.)

Application:

•Like Peter in vs.10, when are you most likely to ‘pick up your sword’ and try to ‘control’ a situation? Who or what is involved? eg. your kids, $$$, spouse, relationships, your livelihood, etc.

•How does Jesus’ decision to “drink the cup” (vs.11) help you in your obedience to God? What issue of obedience is challenging you?
